Beloved - precious to the Lord!
I want to thank God for His faithfulness. For me, 1997 was a year of great trials and testings-sometimes so intense I had to simply cry out to God, "Hold me, Lord. Keep me from fainting." I faced crushing burdens on all sides and problems that seemed unsolvable. But the Lord saw me through wonderfully and gave me sweet rest and peace through it all.
Now here I stand in 1998 with a testimony that God never fails-that He loves and cares for His children, and that He truly answers prayer. And all through the trials and difficulties, the Lord has drawn me closer to His bosom and revealed to me the wonders of His grace, mercy and long-suffering. I trust it will make me a better shepherd.
I want to thank all our friends and readers for helping us with prayer and financial gifts. What a tremendous encouragement it has been to receive gifts and letters of support from so many caring readers of my messages. We needed a miracle at the close of 1997-and God worked the needed miracle by making it possible to close out the year completely debt-free. I have sent thank you receipts to all who gave, but again I must glorify the Lord in all this because He is the reason behind every gift and letter. It has been a cause of great rejoicing and thanksgiving to our Lord who is faithful to His promise to supply every need.
Also, I thank the Lord that one day I can stand before Christ's throne and hear Him say, "You have been faithful in praying for those who write to you asking for prayer." I know that we have never asked our readers to send us their prayer requests with the slightest motive to raise money. God knows that. Every request is faithfully prayed over.
The same God who was faithful in 1997 will be faithful in 1998! Faithful to us - and to you! We are going to trust Him to meet our needs today, just as He did yesterday. Will you trust Him, too? He will meet you - answer you - deliver you!
